Using Not only … but also … – Example Sentences


 Not only... but also is used to connect and emphasize two phrases or two words at the same position. Parallelism should be the goal


 


 Subject + Verb + not only + Adjective + but also + Adjective


Ex He is not only handsome but also intent. Ex: He is met only poor but alse employed.


Subject + Verb + not only + Adverb + but also + Adverb


Ex: He speaks Spanish not enly saturally but also fly

Ex, Mark works not only careless but also hasty.

Ex: I like not only cheesecake but also coke.

Refers to the words or phrases that represent a personm a placem a thing or a quality or idea.

     E.g. dog, cat, elephant,      school work, town, Manila, teacher, etc.

PRONOUN

Refers to the words that are used instead of a noun or noun phrase in a sentence.

     E.g. he, I, its, me, my, she, that, this, those, etc.

VERB

Refers to the words or group words that describe as actionm experience or express a state of being.

     E.g. run, sit, stand, go, have, get, promise, invite, etc.

Refers to the words that describe a noun or pronoun.

     E.g. angry, brave, carful, healthy, little, old, generous, tall some, good, big, etc.

     E.g. and, or, so, after, since before, either, neither, etc.
